Asking for Help is a Strength, not a Weakness.

Last week was a big one for me in terms of growing my business. I was learning lots of new things and facing new challenges, and slowly I started feeling overwhelmed. I realised I was putting so much pressure on myself to do everything perfectly, and all on my own. It wasn’t until I realised this that I noticed I was so caught up in appearing strong and independent, that I had forgotten that it is ok to ask for help.

I wanted to share this moment with you all because I know a lot of us shy away from asking for help, and I believe most of us should ask for it more often.

In today’s society asking for help is often associated with being weak, and our fear gets in the way…

  • fear of being judged,
  • fear of looking stupid,
  • fear of being incompetent,
  • fear of not meeting expectations, and most of all
  • fear of failure.

We need to stop seeing asking for help as a weakness, but rather as a strength.

Asking for help takes courage, it shows you are strong enough to recognise when you are needing more support, and brave enough to expose your vulnerabilities to others.

Sometimes we don’t have all the answers. Sometimes we need more support than normal. And that is perfectly O.K. We all have different strengths and talents and when we reach out and receive support from others we can achieve so much more, and I can guarantee you that you’ll feel better about it when you can share the experience.

So, I’ll leave you this week with a bit of a reflection.

  1. Where in your life can you have the courage to reach out for help?
  2. Where can you offer your support to someone you notice is needing it?

Happy Monday wonderful people,
